I Looked Into Yushuku Hitsujiyama-tei
2026-09-01

This is part of an ongoing series where I look into staycation detour spots, focusing mainly on inns that have a bath right in the room. I've already covered a few similar types of inns, but this time what caught my attention was the fact that every single room comes with its own open-air bath, so I decided to look into it.
This time I looked into "Yushuku Hitsujiyama-tei." It's apparently located near Hitsujiyama Park in Chichibu, and I saw a description saying it's right next to the hill famous for its shibazakura (moss pink) flowers, which got me thinking that depending on the season, the view could be quite the treat.
All 10 rooms come with their own private open-air bath, and the biggest feature seems to be that you can soak whenever you like without worrying about anyone else.
Rakuten Mobile's signal condition came back as a C rating according to the official tool.
I've laid out more details below.
The luxury of having an open-air bath in every room
Yushuku Hitsujiyama-tei is apparently a type of inn where all 10 rooms come with their own private open-air bath. All the room types are said to be Japanese-Western style (a modern Japanese take), and they can accommodate anywhere from 2 to 5 guests. The water is drawn from the Mitsumine-no-Yu spring of Chichibu Otaki Onsen, and I felt like being able to soak in hot spring water without leaving your own room sounds like a pretty ideal setup for anyone who prefers staying indoors.
The inn also apparently has 3 private bath areas and 1 private stone sauna room, so it seems designed to let you enjoy a change of pace beyond just the bath in your room. A layout that lets you soak without worrying about crowds felt like a nice touch for anyone who gets a bit self-conscious around other people.
Checking out the meals and room amenities
Both dinner and breakfast are apparently served in-room, with dinner called the "Kibako Zen" (a creative Japanese course served in a wooden box tray) and breakfast called the "Wa Choshoku Gozen" (a traditional Japanese breakfast set). Being able to eat without running into other guests much also seems well-suited to a staycation-style stay.
As for in-room amenities, every room apparently comes equipped with a massage chair, and free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms. There's also said to be a free drink bar in the building, where you can help yourself to coffee and soft drinks. For anyone who wants to hole up in their room and relax, this seems like an inn with plenty of features that let you avoid moving around too much.
As for pricing, it looks like rates range from around 9,900 yen per person per night for the cheapest options (room only or with breakfast included), up to roughly 15,000 to 30,000 yen per person for a plan with both dinner and breakfast, varying by season and number of guests. Reservations can apparently be made through the official website's booking system, as well as through various travel booking sites or by phone.
Notes on the basic information
- Location: Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture (an area adjacent to Hitsujiyama Park)
- Check-in/Check-out: Check-in from 3:00 PM / Check-out by 10:00 AM (this may vary depending on the plan)
- Parking: Apparently free, with space for around 20 to 30 cars
- Shuttle service: There's said to be a shuttle from Seibu-Chichibu Station on the Seibu Railway
- Payment methods: Apparently accepts VISA, MasterCard, JCB, American Express, and Diners Club
I was able to check the official site here. It looks like it's operated by a company called Chichibu Resort, and while it seems there was once information posted under a different domain, this page appears to be the most up-to-date source right now.

Honestly, with a massage chair and an open-air bath right there in the room, I feel like I could be perfectly happy without ever stepping outside my room.
Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions
When I checked the location of Yushuku Hitsujiyama-tei using the official My Area Communication Simulation tool, the overall rating came back as "C."
Since it's a C rating, if you're planning to watch videos or do any online work while relaxing in your room, it might be worth checking ahead of time. That said, since free Wi-Fi is apparently available in every room, it seems like something you could factor in alongside your mobile connection.

Hearing a C rating makes me brace myself a little, but if Wi-Fi is available in every room, it probably won't cause too much trouble during an actual stay.
Wrapping Up
To sum it up, my impression of Yushuku Hitsujiyama-tei is that it's an inn where all 10 rooms come with their own private open-air bath, letting you enjoy hot spring water in your own room whenever you like. The private bath areas, the stone sauna, and the free drink bar also seemed like nice touches that let you change up your mood even outside your room, making for a comfortable stay overall.
Rakuten Mobile's signal condition came back as a C rating, so if you're concerned about connectivity, it might be worth checking the official tool yourself for peace of mind.
