Hi, I'm Komorin.
On my days off, I'm pretty much always at home. Give me a sofa, a blanket, and maybe a decent cup of coffee, and that's basically my whole day sorted.
Even so, for the past few years, there's been this one goal quietly sitting in the back of my mind: going solo camping in winter. I still haven't managed to actually do it, but somewhere along the way, I ended up becoming weirdly knowledgeable about campsites and gear anyway. This blog is basically where I dump all that research, just as I found it.
One reason I haven't gone yet is, honestly, driving. I do have a license, but I'm what's called a "paper driver" — someone who technically has a license but almost never actually drives — so I can never quite work up the courage to take the car out. Since I live in Tokyo, I've also gotten into the habit of checking whether places are easy to reach from the city even without a car.
Once I start looking things up, I end up getting curious about all sorts of details — things like "does this campsite have powered sites?" or "what do people say about the restrooms?" Another thing I never skip is checking Rakuten Mobile's signal coverage. Losing connectivity while out and about is genuinely annoying, so even when I'm just researching a "maybe someday" trip, I've made a habit of checking it anyway.
So when I'm researching, I generally look at things through three lenses: "Is it easy to get to without a car?", "Is it solo-camper friendly?", and "Is it easy for women to visit?" I'm planning to include my own completely subjective take on these three points at the start of each post.
Sometimes I end up thinking, "Actually, maybe a hotel spa trip suits me better than camping this time," and I plan to just record that too — changes of heart and all. I won't force myself to promise "This time I'll really go!", so I hope you'll bear with me and follow along at your own pace.
