I Looked Into Juon no Yu

This blog has been gradually expanding beyond just campgrounds to cover the bathing facilities attached to them, but this time I decided to take on a day-use bathing facility as a standalone topic.

While looking into a camping facility in Chichibu called "PICA Chichibu," I found out that there's apparently a bath on the grounds that can be used even for day visits, and that's what prompted me to put together a separate post about it. It seems to be called Juon no Yu.

The Short Version

The main highlight of this facility seems to be that you can use the indoor bath with a sauna for day bathing at a fairly reasonable price, even if you're not staying overnight at the campground.
As for the Rakuten Mobile signal, an actual measurement using the official tool came back with a rating of C.

I've put together more details below.

What kind of facility is Juon no Yu inside PICA Chichibu?

Juon no Yu is apparently a bathing facility attached to "PICA Chichibu," a camping facility located within Chichibu Muse Park in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. The pronunciation of the name seems to vary depending on the source, and since I couldn't find any pronunciation guide on the official site either, I wasn't able to confirm the exact reading here. If you're curious, it might be worth checking directly with the facility.

It seems to operate year-round, with Wednesdays and Thursdays generally being closed, though it may open on days when the cottages are in operation. It sounds like even when it's open on a Wednesday, it might only operate from 5 PM due to equipment maintenance. The day-bathing hours appear to be 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM (last entry 8:30 PM) from April through November, and 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM (last entry 8:00 PM) from December through March. There also seems to be a morning bath time slot (7:30 AM to 9:30 AM) available for overnight guests, which gives the impression that it's designed to be easily combined with a stay.

Also, the official site apparently still had a notice about a temporary closure around March 2026 for facility construction work. By the time this post goes up it should already be back in operation, but it might be a good idea to check the official site for the latest status before visiting.

Having a bath you can use for day visits even without staying at the campground feels like a nice point for someone like me who doesn't own a car. Since I don't drive, information about facilities I can casually drop into for a day visit is always helpful.

Checking the sauna-equipped indoor bath and the amenities indoor-lovers care about

The bath at Juon no Yu apparently uses heated water rather than natural hot spring water, so if you're expecting a natural hot spring, the reality might be a bit different from what you imagine. The main bathing area seems to consist of one log-cabin-style indoor bath each for men and women, with no outdoor bath — just the indoor bath.

It sounds like there's one dry sauna each for men and women, which could be a nice point for anyone interested in saunas. However, there doesn't appear to be a cold-water pool, with a cold shower apparently used instead. It seems there are no private or family bath rooms available.

As for pricing, day bathing apparently costs 520 yen for adults (junior high school age and up), 210 yen for children (age 3 through elementary school), and is free for children age 2 and under. A face towel is available for purchase at 200 yen, and bath towel rental is also 200 yen, though it seems both the bathing fee and towel rental are free for overnight guests. I couldn't find any mention of an advance reservation system for day bathing on the official site, so my guess is that it can be used without a reservation, but it might be worth confirming by phone if anything is unclear.

Juon no Yu itself doesn't seem to have its own dining area, but since PICA Chichibu has an on-site restaurant called "Forest Cafe & Dining," it seems easy to plan a meal or a rest stop after bathing as well. Also, it seems that anyone with a tattoo (including small ones) isn't able to use the bath, so if that applies to you, it might be reassuring to check in advance.

Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions

When I checked the location of Chichibu City where Juon no Yu is located using the official "My Area Network Simulation" tool, the overall rating came back as "C."

Given a C rating, it might be hard to say there's a lot of margin depending on how you use it. Since Chichibu Muse Park is a facility in a mountainous area, signal conditions could also vary depending on the surrounding terrain and where exactly you are inside the building. If you're just there for day bathing, it probably won't cause major problems, but if you're planning on video streaming or other heavy data use, it might be worth keeping this result in mind ahead of time.

Honestly, a C rating is a bit concerning to me. Since I use Rakuten Mobile myself, this really reminds me how important it is to check these things ahead of time.

Wrapping Up

To sum it up, Juon no Yu gave me the impression of being an indoor bath with a sauna attached to PICA Chichibu, where even people not staying overnight at the campground can easily enjoy day bathing at a fairly reasonable price.

It's worth knowing beforehand that the water is heated rather than a natural hot spring, and since the operating days and hours seem to have some irregular aspects, it's a good idea to check the official site for the latest information before visiting. As for the Rakuten Mobile signal, the result came back as a C rating, so if that concerns you, it might be reassuring to check it yourself using the "My Area Network Simulation" tool.
