I Looked Into River Park Kami-Nagatoro Auto Campsite

I've been continuing a series where I research campsites, day-trip hot springs, and lodging facilities—mainly using information from official websites—and turn them into articles. It feels like facilities in the Nagatoro area have gradually been increasing too.

This time I looked into River Park Kami-Nagatoro Auto Campsite. Since the name includes "Kami-Nagatoro," I got curious whether it might have had a different name in the past, which is what got me started on this.

The Short Version

It's equipped with a flush toilet (Western-style) and paid power sites, so in terms of facilities, it left me with the impression that even beginners could feel at ease staying there.
As for Rakuten Mobile signal, this time no judgment was even displayed, so it might be reassuring to check in advance.

I've put together the details below.

What Kind of Place Is River Park Kami-Nagatoro Auto Campsite?

This is an auto campsite located in Nagatoro, Chichibu District, Saitama Prefecture, and it seems to operate on a seasonal basis. Apparently the operating period generally runs from mid-March to mid-November each year, with the campsite closed during winter.
For check-in and check-out, it looks like overnight stays such as auto camping or log cabins run from 13:00 to 17:00 for check-in and 9:00 to 11:00 for check-out, while day camping runs from 10:00 for check-in and until 16:00 for check-out.

I also looked into the pricing. An auto camping site costs 4,400 to 8,250 yen (tax included) per plot per night, with the price apparently changing depending on the season. It seems a discount is available for solo use. A log cabin, which sleeps up to 5 people and comes with bedding, costs 11,000 to 16,500 yen (tax included) per unit, with an additional 1,100 yen required if you want to use air conditioning. There's no entrance fee itself, but using a power site costs 1,100 yen per day, and parking is free for one vehicle per site, with each additional vehicle costing 550 yen (tax included). Trash is basically supposed to be taken home with you, but it seems you can have it disposed of if you purchase a designated trash bag for 300 yen each.

Reservations can apparently be made through the web reservation calendar on the official website, as well as by phone. It also seems possible to book through campsite reservation portal sites.

Having a discount for solo use struck me as a quietly nice touch. Since I don't drive, I'd need someone to take me there, but having a clear pricing structure like this is helpful.

Checking the Facilities That Matter to an Indoor Type Like Me

The toilets are apparently flush toilets, Western-style, and even equipped with heated washlet seats. This is exactly the kind of thing that catches my attention as an indoor type, so it seems like one point of reassurance. Power sites are also available, and it looks like you can use one for 1,100 yen per day.

On the other hand, as far as I could tell from the official website and other sources, whether Wi-Fi is available isn't clearly stated, so I'm listing it as unknown this time. If having internet access on-site matters to you, it might be reassuring to check directly with the facility beforehand.

As for bathing, there doesn't appear to be a facility with a bathtub on-site, but separate coin showers for men and women (200 yen for 5 minutes) are apparently available. The shop has vending machines for firewood and charcoal, sells consumables, and seems to offer a good selection of rental items such as tents and BBQ equipment. There's also apparently a cooking area and a roofed BBQ space (paid). In addition, an in-house activity facility called Outdoor Center Nagatoro is attached to the campsite, where guests can apparently enjoy discounted rates on things like rafting tours.

  • Toilets: Flush, Western-style, with heated washlet seats
  • Power sites: Available (1,100 yen per day)
  • Wi-Fi: Unknown (not specified on the official website)
  • Bath: None (coin showers available, 200 yen for 5 minutes)
  • Shop/Rentals: Vending machines for firewood and charcoal, consumables for sale, and a good range of rentals including tents and BBQ equipment

Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions

When I checked this facility's location using the official "My Area Coverage Simulation" tool, no judgment result was displayed at all—instead it showed a message saying something like "currently undergoing temporary maintenance." It seems this kind of display can appear when data for the target area hasn't been registered yet.

So I'm recording the overall assessment this time as "unknown." The result was that I simply couldn't obtain enough information to judge whether the signal is good or not.

This was the first time I ran into a case where no judgment came up at all. I couldn't tell whether it was actually a maintenance notice or simply that there was no data for the area, so I decided to just honestly write it up as "unknown."

I Also Looked Into Nearby Places to Visit

Right nearby is the Saitama Prefectural Museum of Natural History, apparently about a one-minute walk away. The Nagatoro Iwadatami rock formations and Tsukinoishi Momiji Park are also said to be within walking distance, which sounds like a nice distance for taking a stroll between camping activities. Nagatoro river boat rides and rafting on the Arakawa River also seem enjoyable nearby.

If you have a car, Hodosan Shrine and the Hodosan Ropeway are apparently about 5 to 10 minutes away, and Chichibu Onsen Manganno-yu is about 10 to 15 minutes away. Day-trip hot springs such as Seion no Yu also seem to be within a 15 to 20 minute range. Michi-no-Eki Minano is apparently reachable in about 10 minutes as well, so if you're able to get around by car, it seems like there's a wide range of sightseeing options nearby.

Wrapping Up

To sum it up again, River Park Kami-Nagatoro Auto Campsite left me with the impression of being an auto campsite with flush Western-style toilets and paid power sites in place, making it easy to check on the facilities. The fact that there's no bath on-site (only coin showers) and that Wi-Fi availability is unknown might be points worth confirming in advance for peace of mind.

As for Rakuten Mobile signal, no judgment was displayed by the official tool, so the result came out as unknown. If you're considering this facility and are concerned about signal conditions, it seems best to check using the official Rakuten Mobile tool with your own device and address.
