I Looked Into kieto Chichibu

This blog has mainly focused on campgrounds and day-trip hot springs so far, but lately I've been taking a bit of a detour to also check out lodgings where you can enjoy more of a resort-vacation-at-a-hotel style stay.

This time I looked into kieto Chichibu. I came across it and saw that it's a cottage-style property with rooms that allow dogs, so it caught my interest as an option for traveling with a dog, and I decided to look into it in more detail.

The Short Version

It seems to be a cottage-style property with 6 rooms total, and one distinctive feature is that you can use the barrel sauna and outdoor pool while checking in entirely unattended.
As for Rakuten Mobile signal, when I tried checking this address using the official tool, no result came up, so unfortunately it remains unknown.

I've summarized the details below.

What Kind of Property Is kieto Chichibu?

kieto Chichibu is apparently a cottage-style property located in Minano, Chichibu District, Saitama Prefecture. It's situated adjacent to a golf course, and it seems to be a relatively new facility that had its grand opening in March 2025.

There are only 6 rooms in total, apparently split into two types: the Terrace Cottage and the Dog Friendly Cottage. Both are about 53.4 square meters, with the Terrace Cottage accommodating up to 5 guests, while the Dog Friendly Cottage accommodates up to 4 guests and allows up to 3 dogs to stay together. However, dogs aren't allowed in the Terrace Cottage at all, not even kept on a leash outside, so if you're traveling with a dog, it seems you need to be careful about which room type you choose.

Check-in and check-out are apparently done via a tablet installed in the room, making it what you'd call a fully unattended operation style. Payment also seems to be online prepayment only, and since there's almost no face-to-face interaction, I got the impression that as someone who's more of an indoor type, it would be an easy, stress-free stay. Reservations can apparently be made through the official website as well as external booking sites like Rakuten Travel. As for pricing, I saw listings on OTA sites mentioning rates starting in the twenty-thousand-yen range per room per night (for 2 guests), but since this seems to vary by season and plan, it's probably best to treat it as just a rough guide.

I really appreciate lodgings with unattended check-in because there's no face-to-face conversation involved. Since I'm not great at talking to people, being able to handle everything with just a tablet is a definite plus for me.

Checking Out the Barrel Sauna, Outdoor Pool, and Dog-Friendly Cottage

What seems to be the highlight of this property is the barrel sauna and outdoor pool, available exclusively to guests. The sauna apparently operates year-round, while the pool is only open seasonally from April through October. Both seem to have set usage hours of 8:00-10:00 and 15:00-21:00. However, there's no lifeguard or attendant on duty, so usage is on a self-responsibility basis—something worth keeping in mind if you're traveling with small children. For the pool, guardians must accompany children age 12 and under, and for the sauna, guardians must accompany children ages 5 to 12.

If you stay in the Dog Friendly Cottage, you can apparently also use a dog park where dogs can play off-leash. However, conditions are set for bringing a dog along, such as the dog being kept indoors, being well-trained, and having proof of vaccination submitted in advance, which gave me the impression that the standards are fairly strict. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times in the room and common areas, and they aren't allowed into the sauna, pool, or the clubhouse of the adjacent golf course. Amenities like a paw-washing station and food stands for dogs seem to be provided, but since meals need to be brought yourself, that's something to prepare for in advance.

The rooms seem to come with a full set of kitchen appliances, including a refrigerator, microwave/oven, rice cooker, and an IH tabletop stove, but there don't appear to be any cookware items like frying pans or pots. If you want to do proper self-catering, you'll probably need to bring your own cookware. As for meal options, things like BBQ, hot pot, and breakfast seem to be available, and allergy accommodations are apparently only accepted at the time of advance reservation, so if that's a concern, it might be a good idea to inquire early.

Things I Noticed About Access and Parking

The nearest station is apparently Kaminagatoro Station on the Chichibu Railway, but walking from there seems to take quite a while, giving the impression that access is really meant to be by taxi. That said, there doesn't seem to be any mention of a shuttle service from the property, so it seems safer to look up a local taxi company in advance. If traveling by train, one possible route seems to be taking a Seibu Line limited express from Ikebukuro to Seibu-Chichibu Station and then transferring to the Chichibu Railway.

If driving, it seems to take about 40 minutes from the Hanazono Interchange on the Kan-Etsu Expressway as a rough guide. I couldn't find any specific mention of parking on the official website, and while I did come across some information suggesting that guests use the parking lot of the adjacent golf course, since this isn't officially stated, I think anyone planning to stay would be wise to confirm directly with the property beforehand.

Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions

When I tried to check this property's location using the official "My Area Coverage Simulation" tool, no result was displayed, and instead I got a message saying something like "currently undergoing temporary maintenance." It seems this kind of message can appear when there isn't enough data for the target area, so this time the overall result came back as unknown.

I also couldn't find any mention from the property itself about signal conditions for Rakuten Mobile or any other carrier—the only related note seemed to be that free Wi-Fi is available throughout. So, at this point, there's nothing definite I can say about the signal situation.

I'll be honest, it was a bit disappointing that no result came up. But since every room apparently has free Wi-Fi, it's reassuring to know you can fall back on that if needed.

Wrapping Up

To sum it up, my impression was that kieto Chichibu is a fairly unusual type of cottage-style property with 6 rooms total, complete with a barrel sauna, an outdoor pool, and even a dog-friendly cottage. While it seems like you could have an easy, stress-free stay thanks to the unattended check-in, I also found a few points worth confirming in advance, such as the parking details and the somewhat inconvenient access.

As for Rakuten Mobile signal, I wasn't able to get a reading this time, so the result remains unknown. If you're actually planning to stay at this property and are concerned about signal conditions, it's probably a good idea to check for yourself using the official tool from your own device.
