I looked into Chichibu Nagatoro Onsen's Adults-Only Hidden Healing Retreat, Hanayu Bettei
2026-09-02

Beyond just campsites, I've been continuing to research day-trip hot springs and accommodations on this blog as an ongoing series. I've lost count of how many facilities in the Saitama area I've looked into by now.
This time, I looked into Chichibu Nagatoro Onsen's Adults-Only Hidden Healing Retreat, Hanayu Bettei. As an indoor type, I couldn't help but react to the phrase "all 13 rooms come with private open-air baths," so I decided this was something worth digging into thoroughly, and I've put together the details here.
It appears to be an adults-only, all-inclusive inn where all 13 rooms have Arakawa River views and private open-air baths, complete with a dry sauna and stone bath.
As for Rakuten Mobile signal, the official tool couldn't produce a result, so it remains unknown.
I've summarized the details below.
Positioned as an Inn for Adults to Relax Undisturbed
Hanayu Bettei is apparently an "adults-only" inn that doesn't allow preschool-age children (6 and under) to stay or enter. It seems to be run as a place where guests can quietly enjoy the hot springs and meals without worrying about the liveliness of families with kids.
The pricing is all-inclusive, running roughly 18,000 to 30,000 yen per person per night (varying by season, number of guests, and plan). Apparently drinks and stone bath usage fees are included in that price, so not having to worry about extra charges felt like a quietly reassuring point for someone as anxious as me. Also, they don't seem to accept day-trip bathing guests, so staying overnight appears to be a requirement for using the facility.
Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 10:00 AM, apparently. Reservations can be made through the official website as well as by phone. It seems you can also book through multiple reservation sites like Rakuten Travel and Jalan.net, which gives the impression that it's easy to compare options before choosing.

Hearing "adults-only" makes me brace myself a little, but it basically seems to mean an inn where you can relax quietly, so as an indoor type, it actually feels like it works in my favor.
Rooms with Private Open-Air Baths, Plus a Dry Sauna and Stone Bath
All 13 rooms apparently face the Arakawa River with river views, and every single room comes with a private open-air bath. Room types include Japanese-style, Western-style, and Japanese-Western hybrid rooms (such as a modern Japanese luxury style), so guests can seemingly choose based on their preference.
The building also has a large communal bath, and in addition to the indoor and open-air baths, it apparently comes equipped with a dry sauna and a stone bath (a stone bath cave). However, there don't seem to be any private-use baths, so that's something worth knowing in advance.
- Indoor bath water quality: apparently a metaboric acid spring (alkaline) from a hot spring source in Ogano Town, Chichibu, known locally as the Daichoji source
- Open-air bath (outdoor bath): apparently an artificial hot spring made using travertine from the Futamata hot spring in Oshamambe Town, Hokkaido (containing calcium carbonate)
- Wi-Fi: available for free throughout the building and in all rooms, but wired LAN apparently isn't available
- Meals: dinner apparently features creative French cuisine or Japanese-Western courses using local ingredients such as Bushu wagyu beef, while breakfast is served as a half-buffet or Japanese-Western buffet style
One thing that caught my attention is that there's no elevator in the building, so the only way to reach rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors is by stairs. It doesn't seem to be a barrier-free inn, so if you're concerned about climbing stairs, it might be reassuring to check in advance.
Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions
I tried entering this facility's location (Nagatoro, Chichibu District, Saitama Prefecture) into the official "my Area Coverage Simulator" tool, but no normal result came up—only a notice saying something like "currently undergoing temporary maintenance." Since I got the same result even after trying multiple times, I'm marking the overall result as unknown for this one.
As someone who uses Rakuten Mobile myself, this kind of "unclear" result is honestly the hardest to work with, but I can't just force myself to write "it's probably fine," so I'm sharing it as is.

This isn't the first time I've gotten no result, but honestly, it's exactly at times like this that I start to worry the most. Since the in-house Wi-Fi is apparently free to use, it looks like that's what I'd rely on if push came to shove.
Nearby Spots to Enjoy Along with a Nagatoro Stroll
Nearby attractions apparently include the Nagatoro Iwadatami rock formations, the Nagatoro line boat ride, and Hodosan Shrine along with the Hodosan Ropeway. Depending on the season, Tatekawa Grape Farm, where you can enjoy grape picking, is also nearby. There also seem to be several roadside stations scattered around the area, so it might be worth venturing out a bit before or after relaxing at the inn.
By car, it's apparently about 25 minutes from the Hanazono Interchange on the Kan-etsu Expressway via National Route 140. By train, it's about a 10-minute walk from Nogami Station on the Chichibu Railway, and it seems free shuttle service is available if you contact them in advance. For someone like me who doesn't drive, this shuttle service information was quite a relief to learn about.
Wrapping Up
To sum it up again, Chichibu Nagatoro Onsen's Adults-Only Hidden Healing Retreat, Hanayu Bettei, left me with the impression of being an adults-only, all-inclusive inn where all 13 rooms offer Arakawa River views and private open-air baths, complete with a dry sauna and stone bath. Since preschool-age children can't stay there, it seems to be positioned as an inn suited for those who want to relax quietly and undisturbed.
On the other hand, as for Rakuten Mobile signal, even the official tool couldn't produce a result, so this ended up staying unknown this time around. Since the in-house Wi-Fi is apparently free to use, there probably isn't much to worry about, but if signal conditions are a concern for you, checking the official tool yourself might give you some peace of mind.
