I Looked Into Glamping IRODORI Chichibu: Forest of Starry Sky and Clear Stream

While using campgrounds as my base, I've also been researching a series of glamping facilities where you can stay comfortably. Finding places where I can enjoy nature even on days when I don't have the energy to pitch a tent has kind of become a hidden theme of this blog.

This time, I looked into Glamping IRODORI Chichibu: Forest of Starry Sky and Clear Stream. I was drawn in by the sound of "along a clear stream," and since I hadn't looked into the Chichibu area much yet, I decided to check it out.

The Short Version

It seems like each dome tent comes with its own private bath and washlet toilet, letting you enjoy the nature along the clear stream with hands-free glamping.
The Rakuten Mobile signal was rated C, so if you're planning to rely on your connection, it might be worth being a little cautious.

I've put together the details below.

What Is Forest of Starry Sky and Clear Stream IRODORI Chichibu Like?

Apparently this is a glamping facility located within the grounds of Chichibu Sadamine Seiryu Campground in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. It seems the name was written slightly differently at some point in the past, but currently it appears to be listed under the name Chichibu Seiryu Glamping: Forest of Starry Sky and Clear Stream IRODORI.

Check-in apparently starts at 3:00 PM, and check-out is by 10:00 AM. I couldn't find any mention of the last check-in time on the official site, so I wasn't able to confirm that. Parking appears to be free, though I couldn't tell how many spaces are available. There's also a reservation-based shuttle service from Seibu-Chichibu Station, Onohara Station, and Kurotani Station (departing at 3:30 PM in principle), so it seems like there are travel options even for someone like me who doesn't drive.

Reservations can apparently be made through the official website's booking form, as well as through booking sites like Jalan and Rakuten Travel, or by phone. As for the accommodation rates, the official site's booking form only displays prices once you enter a date and number of guests, so I wasn't able to confirm any specific figures this time. I did see some listings on general booking sites mentioning rates starting around 5,500 yen per person for two guests, but since I couldn't confirm this directly through the official source, it's probably best to treat that as a rough reference only.

Having a shuttle from the station was quietly great news for someone like me who barely drives. That's definitely something I'd want to confirm properly when booking.

Checking the Amenities That Matter to an Indoor Type Like Me

The rooms are dome tents 7 meters in diameter, each apparently 38 square meters with capacity for 5 people. There seem to be only 3 units total: two units with two semi-double beds, and one unit with four single beds, giving it a fairly limited feel.

  • Bath/Toilet: Each unit apparently has its own private bath and washlet toilet, available 24 hours a day
  • Air Conditioning: Fully equipped with air conditioning, described as suitable for all seasons
  • Wi-Fi: Apparently available for free use throughout the entire grounds
  • BBQ Space: Each unit's deck has its own covered BBQ space, and heaters seem to be available during colder seasons. A private fire pit (with one bundle of firewood included) is also apparently provided
  • In-Room Tablet: Can apparently be used to call staff, order drinks, borrow free games, and watch YouTube
  • Amenities: Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, bath towels, face towels, a hair dryer, toothbrushes, and hand soap are apparently all provided
  • Equipment: Glasses, a refrigerator, a kettle, herbal tea, and coffee seem to be provided

I couldn't find any clear mention on the official site about whether a TV or kitchen facilities are included. My impression is that things are set up so you won't have much trouble even coming empty-handed, but if you're particular about the finer details of the in-room amenities, it might be reassuring to ask ahead of time.

Meals, BBQ, and the Storehouse BAR

For meal plans, the room-only-with-your-own-BBQ-supplies plan is apparently 800 yen for adults and 500 yen for children (tax included). There also seems to be a glamping BBQ plan featuring things like Bushu Wagyu sirloin, though the price apparently requires a direct inquiry.

Next to the reception building, there's apparently a bar converted from an old storehouse, open on weekends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. It seems to mainly serve local drinks, and the atmosphere looks like just the right spot to spend an evening by the clear stream. There also seems to be a solid lineup of BBQ and camping gear rentals, with prices like 330 yen for a knife set, 1,100 yen for a stove set, and 1,000 yen for a sleeping bag. Overall, I got the impression that the setup makes it easy to enjoy the stay without bringing much of your own gear.

Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions

I checked the facility's location using the official "my area coverage simulation" tool, and the overall rating came out to C.

Given that it's surrounded by nature, it seems like a good idea to check the connectivity situation ahead of time. If you're planning to rely heavily on your connection during your stay, it might be reassuring to prepare with this rating in mind.

A C rating was a bit of a concerning result for me too. Then again, if you think of it as a place for stargazing, having weak signal might actually fit the mood rather well.

Nearby Places to Visit

The official site's nearby attractions page introduces spots such as the Ashigakubo Ice Icicles (apparently a seasonal winter event), the shrine associated with the Wado Kaichin coin, Chichibu Shrine, Mitsumine Shrine, Hitsujiyama Park, and Nagatoro Fishing Center. However, the page doesn't list specific distances or travel times from the facility, so I wasn't able to confirm those. For shopping, there's a 7-Eleven about a 5-minute drive away and a Yaoyoshi Yokoze store about 7 minutes away.

Wrapping Up

To sum it all up, my impression of Glamping IRODORI Chichibu: Forest of Starry Sky and Clear Stream is that it's a facility whose main appeal is dome tents with private baths, letting you enjoy hands-free glamping along a clear stream. Many of the amenities seem designed with comfort in mind, and there are little extra touches to enjoy too, like the storehouse bar. Since the Rakuten Mobile signal was rated C, it seems best to plan on checking connectivity ahead of time. If that's a concern, you can check using the official Rakuten Mobile tool, so it might be worth taking a look before heading out.
