I Looked Into Sora to Niwa Atami Izusan

This blog is where I keep researching not just campgrounds and day-trip hot springs, but also inns that could work as a stopover during a hotel vacation. I've looked at a number of glamping facilities and hot spring inns so far, but this time I'm covering something a bit different: a 'wellness inn.'

What got me started was trying to look back into a place I'd previously had on my list, Yutorilo Glamping Garden Atami Izusan, only to discover that as of October 1, 2025, it had changed its name to Sora to Niwa Atami Izusan and undergone a complete renovation. Since I was at it, I decided to look into its new form all over again.

The Short Version

As a 'wellness inn' where you can enjoy hot springs, sauna, and cold baths all in one space, it seems like many of the room types come with their own sauna or open-air bath, which I found appealing since you could enjoy everything without even leaving your room.
The Rakuten Mobile signal came back with a C rating, so it's probably best to check it yourself without expecting too much.

I've put together the details below.

What Kind of Inn Is Sora to Niwa Atami Izusan?

This is an inn located in the Izusan area of Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It seems the name was originally Yutorilo Glamping Garden Atami Izusan, but on October 1, 2025, it changed its name to Sora to Niwa Atami Izusan and reopened after a full renovation. The official website's top page had this announcement too, so it looks like the facility itself didn't disappear—rather, it kept the same grounds but refreshed both its name and contents.

As for how to book, you can apply through the reservation page on the official website, and it seems phone reservations are also possible. That said, I couldn't find specific information on room rates or check-in/check-out times on the pages I looked at, so I'll just note those as unknown for now.

On-Site Facilities Themed Around Being a 'Wellness Inn'

The biggest draw really does seem to be the concept of being 'one of the few wellness inns in Atami where you can experience hot springs, sauna, and cold baths all in a single space.' The lobby lounge has a footbath with a view, and apparently there's also a welcome afternoon tea set available to all guests, including those staying room-only or in the glamping accommodations.

When it comes to dining, it sounds like there's a fusion Japanese-Western course menu supervised by a chef formerly at a Michelin Key hotel, using ingredients from Sagami Bay and the bounty of Izusan. The property also has facilities like the teppan dining venue Yutorilo (which retains the previous name), the Shime Parfait Bar, and the Sora Niwa Photo Terrace, giving off an atmosphere where you could relax and take your time after a meal.

  • Lobby Lounge & Scenic Footbath: Seems like a space where you can relax before or after check-in
  • Welcome Afternoon Tea Set: Said to be available to all guests, including those staying room-only or in the glamping accommodations
  • Teppan Dining 'Yutorilo': A dining facility that keeps the name from the previous brand
  • Shime Parfait Bar & Sora Niwa Photo Terrace: These give the impression of being spots to stop by during your stay

Room Types and the Annex Planned for Completion in 2026

There's quite a range of room types. The Luxury Suite (89 sqm plus 22 sqm outdoors, accommodating 2-6 guests), newly added in May 2025, apparently comes with a barrel sauna, an open-air bath, and a 120-inch projector, making it sound like a room where you could achieve that 'wellness' state without ever leaving. The also newly added Premium Suite (38 sqm plus 23 sqm outdoors, accommodating 1-4 guests) is said to include an open-air bath with a cold plunge.

The Deluxe Terrace, a Japanese-Western style room, is limited to just 3 units and apparently has its own barrel sauna and a jacuzzi-equipped open-air bath. Beyond that, you can also choose from standard room types like Ocean View Comfort, Japanese Modern, King, and Twin.

There's also a fully independent private villa called the Sora to Niwa Annex planned for completion in 2026. Each unit is said to be over roughly 150 sqm, with 5 units total, 3 of which will be dog-friendly, and they're planned to come equipped with a private sauna, a chiller-cooled cold plunge, and even a bonfire space—so this feels like an inn that's going to keep evolving.

I wasn't able to confirm, within the scope of what I looked at this time, whether the previous cottage-style glamping option called Jyubako is still being offered in the same form. I did find a mention of a 'glamping stay' category of accommodation in the text, but the details about it as a standalone cottage remain unclear. I also couldn't find any information on whether pets are allowed to stay in the existing standard rooms.

Access and Parking Situation

The nearest station is JR Atami Station. From bus stop 4 at the station, you can take the Nanaohara Circular bus and get off at the stop in front of Sora to Niwa Atami Izusan, which takes about 20 minutes. Since I don't drive, I was glad to see there's a free reservation-required shuttle (running from 2:30 PM to 6:15 PM, with limited capacity). The meeting spot is apparently near the footbath on the left when you have your back to the station exit, so it's worth remembering so you don't get lost.

If you're driving, there's parking for 30 cars, free of charge and no reservation needed, and it seems there's EV charging available too. For motorcycles, there's a covered space for up to the first 4 arrivals, though there's apparently a rule against starting your engine between 7:00 PM and 8:00 AM. I also saw a note that there don't seem to be any convenience stores or shops nearby, so it's probably safer to bring what you need ahead of time.

Since I'm in the camp of people who don't drive, having a free shuttle felt like a pretty big help. Meeting up at a footbath also feels like a nice, trip-like touch.

Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions

When I checked the address corresponding to this facility's location using the official 'My Area Connectivity Simulation' tool, the overall rating came back as 'C.' Since this is the actual result produced by the company's own published tool, I'll just share it as is.

I don't know the specific numbers or the finer details of the area, but given the C rating, it might be a good idea to prepare a bit in advance if you're planning to use a lot of data. Combined with the fact that there don't seem to be any convenience stores nearby, anyone planning to rely on the internet for shopping or looking things up during their stay might want to download what they need beforehand.

Given the C rating, if it were me, I'd give up on things like watching videos and shift my focus to enjoying the on-site facilities and the afternoon tea instead.

Wrapping Up

To sum it all up again, my impression of Sora to Niwa Atami Izusan is that it's a 'wellness inn' where you can experience hot springs, sauna, and cold baths all in one space, and depending on the room type, you might even get a barrel sauna or open-air bath right in your room—definitely something worth noting if you're a fan of hotel vacations. The rooms and on-site facilities were just refreshed in the 2025 renovation, and with a fully independent private villa set to be completed in 2026, this feels like an inn that's only going to draw more attention going forward.

That said, there's still some information I couldn't confirm, like room rates and check-in/check-out times. As for Rakuten Mobile signal, the result came back as a C rating, so if that's a concern for you, it's probably worth checking it yourself using Rakuten Mobile's official tool.
