I Looked Into Nozomi Glamping & Spa Saku x Karuizawa

In addition to campgrounds and day-trip hot springs, I've recently started looking into glamping facilities as a series too. Since I don't drive, whether I can get there without a car is always the point I'm curious about.

This time I looked into Nozomi Glamping & Spa Saku x Karuizawa. It's located roughly between Saku and Karuizawa, and I came across information saying every unit comes with a natural hot spring and sauna, which caught my interest, so I decided to look into it.

The Short Version

It appears to be an unusual type of glamping facility, built on a hill with views of the Saku city area, Karuizawa, and Mount Asama, with every unit equipped with a natural hot spring and sauna.
As for the Rakuten Mobile signal conditions, when I actually checked, the overall rating came out as a "C".

I'll go over the details below.

What's This Hilltop Glamping With Hot Springs Like?

Nozomi Glamping & Spa Saku x Karuizawa is apparently a glamping facility located in Saku City, Nagano Prefecture. The "Saku x Karuizawa" part of the name caught my attention a bit, but from what I could see on the official website, it's built on a hill with views over the Saku city area, Karuizawa, and Mount Asama, so it seems the name reflects a location where you can feel connected to both areas.

Apparently there are 6 suite villas and 7 dome tents on the property, and I thought it sounded nice to be able to choose between the excitement of staying in a tent and the comfort of a solid building. The biggest feature, though, is that every single unit comes with a natural hot spring and sauna. The hot spring hours seem to be split into 7:00-8:30 and 10:00-21:45, but it seems guests can use it as many times as they like within those hours. Getting to enjoy that outdoor camping feeling while also being able to soak in a hot spring back in your room seemed like a pretty appealing combination to me.

As for pricing, I couldn't find specific figures in the body of the official website; it seems the plan list page links out to an external reservation system instead. So it looks like you'd need to check the exact rates through that reservation system.

A hot spring and sauna in every single unit really hit home for me as an indoor type. I feel like I could be completely satisfied without even stepping outside.

Checking Access and Notable Amenities

The nearest station is Sakudaira Station on the JR Koumi Line, about a 15-minute taxi ride away. There's also apparently a free shuttle bus from Sakudaira Station available by advance reservation, with pickup from the station set at 14:30 and drop-off from the facility set at 10:15 and 11:15. As someone who doesn't drive, having this shuttle bus is a pretty reassuring point for me. If you're driving, it's said to be about 3 minutes from the Saku Minami interchange.

  • Rooms with a dog run: There are apparently rooms available where you can stay together with your pet
  • Bonfire space: There seems to be a space on the grounds where you can build a bonfire
  • How to book: In addition to the plan list on the official site connecting to an external reservation system, it seems you can also book by phone

As for the official check-in and check-out times, and the capacity and size of each room, I couldn't find those spelled out in the body of the official website - I could only make a rough guess based on the shuttle bus timings. It seems safest to confirm the details when you make a reservation.

Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions

When I checked this facility's location using the official "my Area Connectivity Simulation", the overall rating came out as a "C". Given that it's located on a hill, my impression is that it's worth checking the signal conditions in advance.

Since the result came out as a C rating, if you're planning to handle work contacts or online tasks during your stay, it might be reassuring to plan ahead with the signal conditions in mind.

It's nice that the view is great from up on the hill, but that does make the signal a bit of a concern. If your main goal is to relax in the hot spring and sauna, maybe it's not something you need to worry about too much.

Wrapping Up

To sum it up again, my impression of Nozomi Glamping & Spa Saku x Karuizawa is a facility on a hill with sweeping views of the Saku city area, Karuizawa, and Mount Asama, where every unit is equipped with a natural hot spring and sauna. With suite villas and dome tents, rooms with a dog run, and a bonfire space, it looked like a facility that offers a good range of ways to spend your time. Having a free shuttle bus from Sakudaira Station is also a welcome point for someone like me who doesn't use a car.

On the other hand, the Rakuten Mobile signal conditions came out with an overall rating of "C". If signal quality is a concern for you, I think it would be reassuring to check the official connectivity simulation in advance.
