I Looked Into Hoshino Resorts Karuizawa Hotel Bleston Court

Looking into not just campgrounds, but also day-use hot springs and hotels I'm curious about, has become an ongoing series-style theme for this blog.

This time, as a potential stop for a hotel vacation (a "hokans"), I looked into Hoshino Resorts Karuizawa Hotel Bleston Court. Since I don't drive, the moment I found out you could get there from Karuizawa Station via a free shuttle bus, it became a place I was quite curious about.

The Short Version

My impression was that this is a hotel you can reach via a free shuttle bus from Karuizawa Station, making it fairly easy to plan a trip even if you don't own a car.
As for the Rakuten Mobile signal conditions, the official tool didn't return a result, so I couldn't get a clear answer.

I'll go into more detail below.

I Looked Into What Kind of Place Bleston Court Is

Hoshino Resorts Karuizawa Hotel Bleston Court is apparently a hotel located in the Hoshino area of Karuizawa Town, Nagano Prefecture. It seems to be in a location that's easy to walk to other facilities within the same Hoshino area, such as Hoshino Onsen Tombo no Yu and Harunire Terrace.

Check-in seems to basically be at 3:00 PM, and check-out at noon, though this may vary slightly depending on the plan. According to the official website, since the front desk gets crowded during busy seasons, it's recommended to avoid arriving or departing between 3:00-4:00 PM and 11:30 AM-12:00 PM.

As for room rates, specific prices for each plan aren't listed directly on the main official website; instead, it seems you need to check availability and pricing through an external reservation system. Bookings mainly go through this external system, though it seems reservations by phone are also possible.

Not having prices listed directly on the site feels very 'high-end hotel' to me, but it does seem like a bit of a hassle to have to check the availability system before booking.

Checking Out the Facilities and Ways to Spend Your Time

The guest buildings seem to be divided into three types: Designer's Cottage, Terrace Villa/Jacuzzi Suite, and Standard Cottage. Each building apparently has quite a different atmosphere, so I thought it seemed nice to be able to choose one based on your purpose.

There are multiple restaurants, including Bleston Court Yukawatan, No One's Recipe, the lounge, Harunire Terrace, and Sonmin Shokudo, and apparently private dining rooms and banquet halls are also available. It seems to be a hotel that also handles weddings and parties.

As someone who prefers indoor activities, I was interested in the large communal bath on the basement floor. There's also a sauna attached, and guests can apparently use it for free. Hours seem to be from 6:00 AM (5:00 AM on Sundays) to 9:30 AM in the morning, and from 3:00 PM (4:00 PM on Tuesdays) to 11:00 PM at night.

  • Shop "Ange": Seems to carry Shinshu souvenirs, local sake, wine, and more
  • Garden Terrace: Apparently has a nice atmosphere for strolling around the grounds and taking photos
  • Rental Bicycles: Seem to be useful for getting around the property and exploring the surrounding area

It Seems You Can Get There via a Free Shuttle Bus from Karuizawa Station

As someone who technically has a license but doesn't actually drive, this free shuttle bus was the thing I was most curious about. A free shuttle bus apparently departs from the south exit of Karuizawa Station, taking around 20-30 minutes. On certain days it seems the departure point may change to the south exit of Naka-Karuizawa Station on the Shinano Railway, so it seems wise to check the details for your travel date in advance.

If you take a taxi, it's about 15 minutes from Karuizawa Station, though the official website's pages show slightly different figures—around 2,800 yen in one place, and 2,500-3,000 yen in another. From Naka-Karuizawa Station it's about 10 minutes and around 1,500 yen. On foot, it's apparently about 1.5 km from Naka-Karuizawa Station, taking around 20 minutes.

Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions

As for the Rakuten Mobile signal conditions I was curious about, when I tried to check this facility's location using the official "My Area Connectivity Simulation" tool, no result was displayed, and instead I got a message saying something like "currently undergoing temporary maintenance." It seems this kind of message can appear when the tool is unable to check information for the target area.

Because of this, I wasn't able to confirm whether the signal is good this time around. It's probably best to treat the result as "unknown." If you're considering staying here and are concerned about signal conditions, it seems like a good idea to check with the official tool before you head out.

This was the first time I'd seen the tool show a maintenance message, so honestly I was pretty surprised. Rather than forcing myself to say it 'seems fine,' I'll just honestly tell you it's unknown.

Wrapping Up

To sum up again, my impression of Hoshino Resorts Karuizawa Hotel Bleston Court is that it's a hotel with a free shuttle bus from Karuizawa Station, making it relatively easy to get to even without a car. It also has a good variety of guest buildings and restaurants, along with plenty of ways to spend your time, like the large bath and shops.

As for the Rakuten Mobile signal conditions, the official tool didn't return a result and instead showed a maintenance message, so I wasn't able to share a result this time. If you're concerned about it, I think it would be a good idea to check with the official Rakuten Mobile tool before heading out.
