I Looked Into Anda Resort Izu Kogen

While I kept researching campsites, this side project of "let's skip the tent and do a hotel-cation today" has turned into something like a series before I knew it. I've looked into several hotels and hot spring facilities so far, but this time I checked out one property that had particularly caught my attention among them.

This time I looked into "Anda Resort Izu Kogen." I came across information suggesting it's all-inclusive and that you can use 10 private bath rooms for free, and even as an indoor type myself, I thought this sounded intriguing, so I decided to look into it.

The Short Version

My impression was that this is an all-inclusive property where you can use 10 private bath rooms for free without reservations, and it also offers plenty of in-house activities.
The Rakuten Mobile signal came back as a "C" rating in this check, so it might be worth confirming this point in advance.

I've summarized the details below.

What Kind of Property Is Anda Resort Izu Kogen?

Apparently it's a Bali-style resort hotel located in Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture, divided into five buildings—the Main Building, Lombok Building, Batur Building, Anda Ping Building, and detached villas—with over 20 room types available. It seems there are 68 rooms in total, mostly Western-style, though some Japanese-Western style rooms are also available.
The basic plan appears to be an all-inclusive package with three meals included per night, and while pricing seemed to vary quite a bit depending on the season and plan, based on secondary sources, some plans start from around 20,000 yen per person (I wasn't able to confirm the exact official price list on the official site).

Check-in is basically from 3:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM (11:30 AM for some buildings), but apparently you can use in-house activities and free drinks from 1:00 PM even before check-in or after check-out, which seems like a considerate system for guests in terms of how they can use their time.

  • Room amenities: large 46 to 62 inch TVs, Blu-ray players, free drinks in the room fridge, humidifiers and air purifiers, mobile phone charger rental, and more
  • Wi-Fi: It's apparently available for free throughout the property and in the rooms, though I couldn't confirm whether this is explicitly stated for every single room, so if this matters to you, it might be worth checking at the time of booking
  • Rooms with open-air baths: Only the "Hollywood Twin Japanese-Western Room with Semi-Open-Air Bath" on the first floor of the Main Building seems to come with this, featuring its own semi-open-air bath, a canopy bed, and Ryukyu tatami flooring

Hearing that there are more than 20 room types, I feel like I'd spend a ton of time just choosing one. Personally, I'd probably be drawn to the room with the semi-open-air bath first.

Checking Out the 10 Private Bath Rooms and the Large Communal Bath

One of the highlights of this property seems to be the 10 private bath rooms, which are free and don't require reservations. Each one apparently has a different atmosphere—there's Harap Bahakia, an open-air bath surrounded by old-growth forest (said to offer a view of Izu Oshima), Bintang Bulan, a gazebo-style bath surrounded by bamboo groves, Aura, a scenic private open-air bath overlooking Izu Oshima, and a unique dinosaur-themed bath complete with a dinosaur statue. It seems you can check availability via your smartphone or an in-house monitor, so it sounds like there's not much hassle involved in waiting in line.

There are also large communal baths in two locations—the Anda Ping Building and the Main Building—each apparently equipped with a sauna facility, called "Barrel Sauna" and "Mist Sauna" respectively. The water is said to be a sodium chloride sulfate hot spring, which is reportedly good for conditions like neuralgia, poor circulation, and fatigue recovery.

The Range of In-House Activities, Including Starlit BBQ

True to the all-inclusive label, it seems there's a lot more on offer than just meals and drinks—the in-house activities look pretty extensive too. What especially caught my eye was the "Starlit BBQ" held every day at 9:30 PM in the courtyard, apparently an all-you-can-eat format. There also seem to be daily events like morning yoga, lantern-making experiences, and marshmallow roasting, so it seems like a whole day could easily be filled just by staying on the property.

  • Free drinks: Over 80 kinds of drinks are apparently available for free, mainly during dinner and late-night snack time, reportedly including draft beer, wine, and even Arak, a Balinese distilled spirit
  • Late-night snacks / bar time: From 9:45 PM to 11:00 PM, it seems guests can enjoy free light snacks and alcohol by invitation from the manager
  • Indoor entertainment: Karaoke, table tennis, billiards, darts, bouldering, an arcade game corner, and more—it gave the impression that there's plenty to do inside even on a rainy day
  • Kids' space: There also seems to be a kids' area with a ball pit and table tennis, which looked like a thoughtful touch for families

The nearest station is Izu Kogen Station on the Izu Kyuko Line, and it's apparently about a 10-minute walk from there, though there's also a free shuttle bus connecting the station and the hotel that doesn't require a reservation. As someone who isn't great at driving, I found this shuttle bus reassuring to know about. Nearby, there seem to be sightseeing spots like Jogasaki Coast, Mount Omuro, and Izu Shaboten Zoo, as well as food spots like Izu Kogen Beer and bakery cafes, so it looks like there's plenty to explore around the area, not just within the property itself.

Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions

When I checked this facility's location (Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture) using the official "My Area Network Simulation" tool, the overall rating came back as "C." Since this is exactly the result the tool produced, I'll just share it as is.

Given the "C" rating, it might be reassuring to check the connectivity situation in advance. Since free in-house Wi-Fi seems to be available, there may be times when you'd rely on that for watching videos or using social media. As a Rakuten Mobile user myself, I feel like checking signal conditions ahead of a trip is becoming standard practice these days, not just for this property.

A "C" rating is a little concerning, but since the in-house Wi-Fi seems solid, the actual usability might not change all that much in practice. Still, if it's a concern for you, I think checking in advance would be reassuring.

Wrapping Up

To sum it up, my impression of Anda Resort Izu Kogen was that it's an all-inclusive property where you can use 10 private bath rooms for free without reservations, and where in-house activities like the Starlit BBQ are also plentiful. As an indoor type, the sheer amount of facilities that let you spend a whole day without leaving the property looked really appealing to me.

That said, since the Rakuten Mobile signal came back with a "C" rating, if connectivity matters to you, it might be reassuring to check with the official tool in advance. And as someone who isn't confident behind the wheel, having a free shuttle bus from the station was also a point I appreciated.
