Looking Into Tenku no Onsen Villa Tsumugi Kawaguchiko
2026-10-06

I've been doing a kind of ongoing research series where I look into campsites, day-trip hot springs, and places to stay one by one.
This time I looked into Tenku no Onsen Villa Tsumugi Kawaguchiko. I'm an indoor person, so I was wondering what kind of place I'd pick if I wanted to say, "Let's do a hotel vacation today" instead of camping. That's when a private villa where every unit has its own sauna and open-air hot spring bath caught my eye.
All 5 units have a private sauna with a view of Mt. Fuji and an open-air bath with natural hot spring water, and apparently you can use them whenever you like, 24 hours a day, during your stay.
As for the Rakuten Mobile signal, the official tool gave it a "C" rating, so it seems like anyone who needs a connection should prepare in advance.
I've put the details together below.
Basic Info on a Private Villa Where You Can Hole Up With a View of Mt. Fuji
It's a place to stay in Fujikawaguchiko Town, Yamanashi Prefecture, and it looks like a small-scale setup with just 5 private villas. Apparently you can see both Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi from every unit.
As for whether it's operating, I couldn't find any mention of a temporary or permanent closure on the official website. However, it seems they may refuse stays when bad weather such as heavy snow, torrential rain, or a typhoon is expected.
Here's the main information I could confirm on the official website.
- Unit types: There seem to be 3 types: Suite Villa (2 floors, up to 6 guests), Standard Villa (up to 4 guests), and Glamping (up to 4 guests)
- Check-in: Self check-in from 15:00 to 20:00, and early check-in isn't available, it seems
- Check-out: 11:00 for Suite and Standard, 10:00 for Glamping, and late check-out doesn't seem to be available either
- Booking: Through the booking button on the official website, and inquiries are accepted by phone, email, and LINE. There was also a best rate guarantee, saying the official website has the lowest price
- Rates: I couldn't find any prices on the official website, so as far as I looked, they're unknown. The 150 yen hot spring tax is apparently included in the room rate
- Mid-stay cleaning for consecutive nights: 15,000 yen, apparently
- Payment: Since it's an unstaffed facility, cash can't be used. It seems to be card only, either paid in advance or on the check-in tablet. The listed brands were VISA, JCB, American Express, Master Card, and Discover
- Cancellation fees: 30% of the room rate from 7 days before, and 100% from 3 days before
- Parking: Free for up to 1 car per unit, and no reservation is needed. For 2 or more cars, it seems you need to consult them in advance

Unstaffed self check-in sounded easygoing for an indoor person like me, since there'd be little chance of having to talk to anyone. Still, I want to remember that cash can't be used.
Facilities for Homebodies: A Sauna and Open-Air Bath Right Outside Your Room
The big feature of this place seems to be that every unit has a sauna and an open-air bath on its terrace. You can see Mt. Fuji from the sauna, and there's also a cold plunge and an outdoor cooling-off area. The open-air bath is natural hot spring water, with the source named Shurei no Yu, and the water quality was described as a calcium/sodium sulfate-chloride spring (hypotonic, neutral, low-temperature).
I couldn't confirm the sauna type, room temperature, capacity, or cold plunge temperature on the official website.
The size of each unit seems to be listed as follows.
- Suite Villa (Type A): 135 m², broken down as 81 m² indoors, a 41 m² terrace with sauna and open-air bath, and a 13 m² balcony
- Standard Villa (Types B and C): 85 m², with 41 m² indoors and a 44 m² terrace with sauna and open-air bath
- Glamping (Types D and E): 74 m², with 31 m² indoors and a 43 m² terrace with sauna and open-air bath, plus a garden. Only this type allows bonfires, and 2 bundles of firewood are included. Extra firewood was listed at 600 yen per bundle
Apparently the drinks in the private bar in each room are free to enjoy. The facility is said to have a coin laundry (paid), an ice machine, vending machines for snacks and alcohol, rental bicycles, and Wi-Fi. There's also a BBQ grill on the terrace and a portable gas stove indoors.
On the other hand, charcoal BBQ, fireworks, and bringing your own BBQ equipment or bonfire stands seem to be prohibited. The rooms are completely non-smoking, and smoking is only allowed on the terrace.

Being able to step out of your room and into a sauna and hot spring, and use them 24 hours a day, sounded really appealing to someone like me who hates going out.
With No Shops Nearby, Planning Your Meals and What to Bring Seems Important
According to the official website, there are no restaurants or supermarkets nearby, so unless you choose a plan with food included, you need to bring your own food and drinks. Bringing food and drinks is allowed, every unit has a BBQ grill and a kitchen, and salt, pepper, and oil are provided as seasonings.
- Dinner: You enjoy Koshu beef (domestic Japanese Black wagyu, 200 g) as either sukiyaki or shabu-shabu. Apparently only the ingredients are provided, and you cook them yourself
- Breakfast: A bagel plate style, with the ingredients delivered to the fridge in your room by 15:00 on the check-in day. Apparently the contents can't be changed to accommodate allergies. Also, the intro text on the top page says it's "centered on pot-au-feu," so it seemed like the description differs from page to page
- I couldn't confirm the names, prices, or how to choose the plans with meals included
I Couldn't Tell From the Official Website Whether You Can Get There Without a Car
I'm a paper driver (I have a license but barely drive), so access is something I can't help worrying about. The access page on the official website says it takes about 20 minutes by car from Kawaguchiko Station, about 22 minutes from Kawaguchiko IC (coming from the Tokyo direction), and about 30 minutes from Fujiyoshida IC (coming from the Shizuoka and Nagoya direction).
On the other hand, I couldn't find anything about trains, buses, taxis, pickup service, or walking from Kawaguchiko Station to the facility, so all I can say about how easy it is to get there without a car is "unknown." Considering there are no shops nearby either, if you're thinking of going without a car, it seems better to ask them directly beforehand.
Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions
When I checked this facility's location (Fujikawaguchiko Town) with the official my Area connectivity simulator, the overall rating showed up as "C."
That's what the official tool displayed for the Rakuten Mobile signal. I can't tell the actual connection speed, or how it differs by location, such as inside the rooms versus on the terrace. That said, the facility apparently has Wi-Fi, so if you need a connection, it seems you'd be factoring that in too (I couldn't confirm the Wi-Fi details on the official website). If you plan to use a mobile connection for work messages, looking things up, or watching videos, it might be reassuring to prepare in advance just in case.
If you're curious, please try the official Rakuten Mobile connectivity simulator yourself as well.

The rating was C. Treating it as a stay where you step away from your phone for the sauna and hot spring might be one way to look at it, but on days when you need to be reachable, it seems wise to prepare things you can view offline beforehand.
Wrapping Up
To sum it up, my impression of Tenku no Onsen Villa Tsumugi Kawaguchiko is that it's a private villa where all 5 units have a private sauna with a view of Mt. Fuji and an open-air bath with natural hot spring water, which you can use at your own pace 24 hours a day during your stay.
There are a few things worth checking in advance, like the self check-in and the need to prepare your own food since there are no shops nearby. I couldn't confirm the room rates or whether there are trains, buses, or pickup service from Kawaguchiko Station on the official website. If you're considering going without a car, it seems best to ask them beforehand. The Rakuten Mobile signal showed up as "C" on the official tool.
