I Looked into Gramercy Village Yamanakako Glamping&Sauna
2026-10-07

I've been slowly researching places that seem reachable even without a car, and accommodations that seem comfortable for homebodies, kind of like an ongoing series.
This time I looked into "Gramercy Village Yamanakako Glamping&Sauna" in Yamanakako Village, Yamanashi Prefecture. Apparently you can stay in a dome tent or an American trailer, and there's a private dome-style sauna too. I'm a paper driver who doesn't actually drive, so the idea of skipping the camping gear and spending time at a well-equipped place, like a "hocance" (a vacation at a hotel), caught my interest.
It looks like a glamping spot where both the dome tents and the American trailers come with a toilet, a shower, and heating and cooling, and you can enjoy a private dome-style sauna too.
As for the Rakuten Mobile signal, the overall rating from the official tool was "C", so if you need a connection, I'd recommend checking ahead of time.
I've put the details below.
What Kind of Place Is Gramercy Village Yamanakako?
According to the official website, there are two room types: dome tents and trailer houses. The trailer houses are American trailers made by Forest River, and apparently there are 5 of them. Some rooms come with a dog run: it seems to break down into 1 dome with a dog run and 3 trailers with a mini dog run. I couldn't find the total number of units or the size of each room on the official website.
Here's the basic info.
- Prices: Per person, the listings said dome tents from 21,800 yen, domes with a dog run from 24,800 yen, trailer houses from 19,800 yen, and trailers with a dog run from 22,800 yen (as listed in 2026, and apparently they vary by season and date)
- Booking: The official website mentioned online reservations. I couldn't find anything about whether you can book by phone or email
- Check-in/check-out: Check-in is 15:00 to 18:00 and check-out is 8:00 to 10:00. If you'll arrive after 18:00, it seems you need to contact them in advance
- Late check-out fees: After 10:00 it's 5,000 yen per room per hour, and after 15:00 it's 25,000 yen plus the cost of an additional night, apparently
- Parking: Free for guests, and motorcycles use the parking space too
The official website is here.

Just the idea of staying in an American trailer makes me feel like I'd get a little trip-like thrill out of it.
Rooms, Sauna, and Meals from a Homebody's Point of View
It seems the rooms are equipped with a private toilet, a shower booth, a washstand, heating and cooling, and a fridge. Apparently the domes also have a sofa bed. Capacity is 2 to 4 guests per room, and up to 5 if you count children sleeping alongside. All rooms are non-smoking, and that includes heated tobacco. Having water facilities and climate control all indoors sounded reassuring to someone like me who isn't great at the outdoors.
One of the main attractions is the private dome-style sauna that you can book for yourselves. Apparently you wear swimwear. However, I couldn't confirm the price, hours, capacity, or sauna type on the official website. If you're curious, it might be a good idea to ask them before booking.
Here's what I found about meals.
- Plans: There seem to be plans with dinner and breakfast included, and room-only plans
- Dinner: A BBQ on a gas grill, with food served from 17:30
- Breakfast: A cook-it-yourself style, from 7:30 it seems
- Bringing your own: You can bring your own food and drinks. With the room-only plan, apparently you can borrow a BBQ stove, cooking utensils, and tableware for free
- Rainy days: Every room has a roofed BBQ space, and on rainy days you can enclose it with vinyl curtains and still go ahead
For activities, they mentioned things like a bonfire (2,800 yen for 60 minutes) and bicycle rental (500 yen for up to 2 hours). One thing to note: fireworks are completely prohibited, including handheld, launched, and fountain types.
Only dogs are allowed, and only in rooms with a dog run, with a limit of 2 medium-sized dogs of about 10 kg each per room. It seems you also need to sign a stay consent form.
Can You Get There Without a Car, and What's the Area Like?
According to the access guide on the official website, it's about 5 minutes from Yamanakako IC by car. If you're not driving, you take an express bus, get off at the Yamanaka-kyoku Iriguchi stop, and walk about 12 minutes. There's no shuttle service, and that seems to be stated clearly in the FAQ on the official website. I couldn't find anything on the official website about the nearest station or how to get there by taxi.
For nearby sightseeing, the official website introduced Hananomiyako Park, the Lake Yamanaka sightseeing boat, Mori no Alm (a cafe), Dallas Village, and the Lake Yamanaka KABA (an amphibious bus), among others. For shopping, Gotemba Premium Outlets is listed. I haven't been able to confirm distances or travel times. I also found no information on nearby convenience stores or supermarkets, so if you're planning to bring your own food, it would be a good idea to look into that beforehand.
Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions
I entered this facility's location (Yamanakako Village, Yamanashi Prefecture) into the official "my Area Communication Simulation", and the overall rating came up as "C".
That result is exactly what the official tool returned. Depending on where you are, the connection might not be very stable, so if you want to rely on it for streaming video, online meetings, or work, it might be reassuring to prepare in advance. Also, I couldn't find any mention of mobile phone signal conditions on the facility's official website.
If you're worried about the signal, please check the rating yourself with the official Rakuten Mobile tool.

The signal got a C rating. I think it's best to treat this as a stay for relaxing with the sauna and a bonfire, and go easy on the phone.
Wrapping Up
To sum it up, my impression of Gramercy Village Yamanakako Glamping&Sauna is that it's a glamping spot where you can stay in a dome tent or an American trailer with a toilet, a shower, and heating and cooling, and also enjoy a private dome-style sauna.
Since you can bring your own food, and with a room-only stay you can borrow BBQ gear for free, it looks like you can pick the style that suits you. On the other hand, there's no shuttle, it's about a 12-minute walk from the bus stop, and I couldn't confirm the sauna details on the official website, so those are things I'd want to check beforehand. The overall rating from the official tool for Rakuten Mobile signal was "C", so if you need a connection, it's a good idea to check with the official tool in advance.
