I Looked Into Yumoto Fujiya Hotel

This blog isn't just about campsites — I've also been gradually looking into day-trip hot springs and long-established inns, kind of like a series.

This time I looked into Yumoto Fujiya Hotel in Hakone-Yumoto. I have a driver's license but never actually drive, so what drew me in was the location — within walking distance of Hakone-Yumoto Station, meaning I could get there by train alone. The fact that it's part of the historic Fujiya Hotel group was another point that caught my interest.

The Short Version

It's apparently a historic staycation spot in the Fujiya Hotel group, with the added appeal of being just a 3-minute walk from the station.
The Rakuten Mobile signal came out as a C rating in my check this time, so that might be a concern for quite a few people.

I've summarized the details below.

What Kind of Hotel Is Yumoto Fujiya Hotel?

It's apparently a property in the Fujiya Hotels & Resorts group, operated by Fujiya Hotel Co., Ltd., located in the Yumoto area of Hakone Town, Kanagawa Prefecture. I confirmed a link to the parent company, Fujiya Hotel, in the footer of the official website, so it seems safe to say the group affiliation is accurate.

As for room rates, general search results show information suggesting prices start from 36,300 yen (tax included) for two people, but the official booking system seems to only display details once you enter dates and number of guests, so I wasn't able to confirm the exact price range. If you're interested, checking directly when you book would probably be the most reliable way. Check-in and check-out are generally said to be 3:00 PM and 11:00 AM, but I couldn't find this explicitly stated in the main text of the official website either, so it might be worth confirming when you make your reservation.

Just hearing "long-established Fujiya Hotel group" makes me feel like I should sit up a little straighter. Even as an indoor type, I feel like I could relax in a historic space like this.

Checking Out the Facilities That Caught My Eye as an Indoor Type

The hot spring bath area called Soun, which also allows day-trip visitors, apparently offers a simple alkaline spring with both an indoor bath and an open-air bath. Current hours are said to be from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM (last entry), though there's also a notice that starting in October 2026 the opening time will change to 1:00 PM, so if you're considering a day visit, it's worth checking before you go. Rates are apparently around 2,000 yen for adults on weekdays and 2,500 yen on weekends and holidays.

  • Low-temperature tron sauna: Set at a relatively mild temperature of around 50°C, this type of sauna apparently doesn't dry out your skin as much (no cold plunge pool)
  • Post-bath lounge: A spacious 187-square-meter rest area that opened in 2024, apparently available for use from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM
  • Private baths: There are four rooms of varying sizes, with a 45-minute time limit and the option to reserve in advance. However, they're located up about 30 steps from the main bath, and apparently a lift is provided instead of an elevator, so if stairs are a concern, it seems like a good idea to check with staff in advance
  • Outdoor pool: A summer-only "Garden Pool" that's apparently free for guests to use
  • Restaurants: There's apparently a lineup covering multiple genres including Japanese cuisine, French, Chinese cuisine, and sushi kaiseki — enough to make choosing difficult

Beyond that, my impression was that there's a good range of facilities considerate of families, including a kids' room, a nursing room, a multi-purpose restroom, and a laundry room newly added in August 2026. That said, I couldn't find clear details about Wi-Fi on the official website's facility information page, so I'll note that as something I wasn't able to confirm.

Access from Hakone-Yumoto Station and Ways to Enjoy the Area

It seems to be located close to the station — about a 3-minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station after crossing Ajisai Bridge. Routes described include transferring from the Shinkansen to the Hakone Tozan Railway from Tokyo Station, or taking the Odakyu Romancecar with no transfers from Shinjuku Station. For someone like me who has a license but avoids driving, having easy train access feels like a real plus.

If you're driving, it's apparently about 5 minutes from the Hakoneguchi interchange, and there seems to be free parking for 150 cars. However, at the time I checked, there was a notice that the underground parking lot would be closed from August 17 to September 4, 2026 for equipment inspection, so if you're planning to drive there, it might be a good idea to check availability beforehand. Nearby, within walking distance, there appear to be spots like Ajisai Bridge, Soun-ji Temple, and the shopping street in front of Hakone-Yumoto Station, and if you venture a little further, you could also reach attractions like Hakone Kowakien Yunessun and the Lake Ashi area.

Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions

I use Rakuten Mobile myself, so whenever I look into accommodations or staycation spots, I make a point of checking the signal conditions too. When I checked the location of Yumoto Fujiya Hotel using the official "My Area Connectivity Simulation" tool, the overall rating came out as C.

If you're planning on extended video watching or online work, it's probably worth taking this into account as well. I wasn't able to confirm whether Wi-Fi is available inside the hotel, so if connectivity is a concern, directly asking about Wi-Fi availability when you make your reservation might be one option.

Hearing "C rating" makes me brace myself a little, but honestly, if it's time spent soaking in the hot spring and relaxing, I kind of feel like it's fine to just not worry about signal at all.

Wrapping Up

To sum up, my overall impression of Yumoto Fujiya Hotel is that it's a long-established hotel in the Fujiya Hotel group, with the added appeal of being within walking distance of Hakone-Yumoto Station. With facilities like the hot spring, sauna, and post-bath lounge, it seems like a place where even an indoor type like me could relax and unwind.

On the other hand, the Rakuten Mobile signal came out as a C rating, so if connectivity matters to you, it might be reassuring to check the official tool in advance. If you're curious, give the official Rakuten Mobile tool a try.
