I Looked Into TAVISTAR
2026-08-28

One of the hidden themes of this blog is that I don't just look into campsites—I also go off on tangents into glamping and hotel-staycation style facilities. This time, I put together another one of those posts.
This time I looked into a place called TAVISTAR. I came across some info saying it has facilities geared toward people traveling by motorcycle or bicycle, and even though I have a driver's license, I'm basically a paper driver who never actually drives—so I figured "this probably isn't for me," but that's exactly what made me curious enough to start digging in.
It seems like a glamping facility that focuses on a sense of privacy, with only 7 cabins total and a limit of 7 groups per day.
The Rakuten Mobile signal check came back with a rating of C.
I've put together the details below.
What Kind of Place Is TAVISTAR?
It appears to be a glamping facility located in the Shirahama area of Minamiboso City, Chiba Prefecture. What stands out is how they limit capacity—only 7 cabins total, and no more than 7 groups per day—which seems designed to create an atmosphere where you barely run into other guests. One of the cabins is apparently barrier-free accessible, which gives the impression they've designed the place with a wide range of guests in mind.
Check-in reportedly starts at 3 PM, with checkout by 10 AM, though depending on availability you can apparently extend your stay by the hour for 3,300 yen (tax included) per hour, up to a maximum of 1 PM. Bookings seem to be advance-reservation only, with no same-day walk-ins allowed. You can apparently book through the official website as well as a few other booking sites.
As for room rates, I couldn't find a specific price list on the official site's FAQ or facility introduction pages. On third-party booking sites, I did see figures like 13,450 yen (tax included) per person for room-only stays with 4 adults, or from 15,950 yen (tax included) for a BBQ plan including two meals—but since this isn't primary information I could confirm from the official source, it's probably safest to check the latest pricing yourself if you're actually considering booking.

As someone who's more of an indoor type, hearing that only 7 groups can stay per day really lowers the psychological barrier for me. I'm not great with crowds, so this detail really resonates.
Amenities That Seem to Appeal to Both Indoor Types and Travel Lovers
The rooms apparently come with two Simmons semi-double beds and a sofa bed, along with air conditioning, a unit bath, a washlet toilet, a mini fridge, an electric kettle, a Bluetooth speaker, and free Wi-Fi—as an indoor type, I was pretty impressed by how well-equipped it sounds. There's also a safety box and a hair dryer, so it seems like you wouldn't have much trouble even if you showed up empty-handed.
For shared amenities, there are apparently two private-use jacuzzis on the rooftop of the center house, complete with their own dressing room, plus a sky terrace set up for stargazing. It seems like they even offer free telescope rentals, which sounds like the kind of experience you can't really get living in the city. I also came across a mention that a barrel sauna was newly added to the center house rooftop around December 2025, though I couldn't fully confirm the timing or exact specs from the official site text, so if you're curious it's probably worth asking at check-in.
For meals, they apparently offer an equipment-provided BBQ using local ingredients from Shirahama, featuring things like Boso pork, abalone, and surf clams. I also saw information that if you order the BBQ, the next morning comes with a free light breakfast made with a hot sandwich maker. There are also optional upgrades like a seafood BBQ with spiny lobster and scallops, plus a 3-hour all-you-can-drink option (with a cooler box provided per room).
- Transportation support: You can apparently park motorcycles or bicycles right in front of your cabin, and there's even a dedicated page on the site assuming guests are traveling light
- Rental bicycles: These seem to be available free of charge
- Pets: There's no dog run, but they do apparently offer pet-friendly rooms, which seem to require an advance phone reservation
- Smoking policy: All rooms and outdoor decks are non-smoking, with smoking allowed only in designated areas
For someone like me who has a license but doesn't actually drive, seeing facilities set up for people traveling by motorcycle or bicycle felt refreshing. It made me feel like this place might be designed to welcome guests regardless of how they get there.
Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions
I checked the location of this facility (the Shirahama-cho area of Minamiboso City) using the official "My Area Connectivity Simulation" tool, and the overall rating came back as a C.
Given that it came back as a C, it's probably worth keeping the connectivity situation in mind ahead of time. If you're planning on streaming video or doing anything data-heavy, it might be reassuring to download what you need beforehand. Since the facility apparently offers free Wi-Fi, using that alongside your mobile connection seems like a realistic option too.

As a Rakuten Mobile user, that result made me a little uneasy, but since the in-house Wi-Fi sounds solid, I feel like relying on that should work out fine.
Nearby Spots Worth Checking Out
There's apparently a coastal drive and cycling route called the Boso Flower Line running near the facility, just a short distance away. It sounds like a good enough distance to try riding a rental bicycle along.
- Nojimazaki Lighthouse: About a 4-minute drive, or roughly 7 minutes by bicycle
- Nemoto Beach: Reportedly around a 6-7 minute drive
- Awa Shrine: Seems to assume visitors will arrive by car
- Michi-no-Eki Shirahama Nojimazaki: I couldn't confirm a specific travel time for this one
With the lighthouse and beach both nearby, it seems like you could spend the day out and about, then relax in the evening at the facility's jacuzzi or sky terrace.
Wrapping Up
To sum it all up, TAVISTAR comes across as a glamping facility that values a sense of privacy, limited to 7 cabins and 7 groups per day. There's a lot here that indoor types like me would appreciate, and the place also seems considerate toward guests traveling by motorcycle or bicycle.
That said, keep in mind that I couldn't fully confirm primary pricing information on the official site, and the Rakuten Mobile signal rating came back as a C—both things worth noting before booking or visiting. If signal strength matters to you, it's probably a good idea to check the official tool yourself as well.
