I Looked Into Onyado Nono Beppu
2026-09-14

This blog falls under a category I call "hocance detours" – places you can get to even without a car – and I've been steadily digging through options. Before I knew it, I'd looked into quite a number of places.
This time I looked into Onyado Nono Beppu. Apparently it's a hot spring hotel under the Dormy Inn brand, and once I learned it has a natural hot spring bath on the top floor, I had a feeling it would suit even an indoor type like me.
Located just a 1-minute walk from JR Beppu Station, this struck me as an impressively lavish station-front hotel, complete with a top-floor natural hot spring bath overlooking Beppu Bay and seven types of private baths.
That said, the Rakuten Mobile signal rating came back as C, so it's probably worth knowing that ahead of time for peace of mind.
I've summarized the details below.
A Station-Front Hotel With This Much Hot Spring Goodness—What's It Like?
Onyado Nono Beppu is apparently a Dormy Inn brand hotel located in the station-front area of Beppu City, Oita Prefecture. It seems to be just a 1-minute walk from JR Beppu Station, which alone feels like a pretty reassuring condition for someone like me who doesn't drive.
What caught my eye was the natural hot spring bath on the top floor, floor 13. It apparently uses its own hot spring source for both the indoor and outdoor baths, with views of Beppu Bay. There also seems to be a self-service sauna (with a self-poured steam feature) and a cold water bath, which gives the impression that everything a hot spring lover could want is in place. On top of that, there are reportedly seven private baths themed after various Beppu hot spring areas—two indoor and five outdoor—which also seems well-suited for families or groups.
Rooms come in seven types—Double, Queen, Twin, Deluxe Twin (Universal Room), Triple, Suite (with sauna and open-air bath), and Family—and apparently all rooms use Serta beds. As for room rates and the specific check-in/check-out times, I couldn't find them on the main pages of the official site; it seems you need to enter your dates and number of guests into the reservation form to check. Bookings can apparently be made through the official website, and also by phone.

Even though it's right by the station, having such a proper hot spring makes me feel like I could just pack light and drop in on a whim. As someone who doesn't drive, places like this are a real blessing.
Drawn In By All the Free Services
One thing that really stood out while researching was just how many free services are on offer. There's a welcome drink available after check-in and in the morning (6:30–11:00 / 15:00–23:00), a free post-bath ice cream service in the 13th-floor lounge area (15:00–25:00), and a post-bath fermented milk drink in the early morning (5:00–10:00). There seem to be a lot of little touches designed to make the time you spend at the hotel itself enjoyable.
And I can't overlook the late-night noodles either. Every day from 22:00 to 23:00, apparently Dormy Inn's signature soy-sauce ramen is served in the first-floor lounge (known as Kinoniwa). As a way to fill up a little after a bath, it seems like a great fit.
Breakfast is apparently a Japanese-and-Western buffet style, featuring more than eight items including Beppu specialties like seafood rice bowls, fried chicken tempura (tori-ten), and simmered dishes (nigui). A breakfast that lets you taste the local flavor feels like a factor that could really influence how you choose a place to stay.
Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions
When I checked the location of this facility (Beppu City, Oita Prefecture) using the official "My Area Connectivity Simulation" tool, the overall rating came back as "C".
I'm just sharing this as the result from the official tool. Given the station-front location, some might find it a little surprising, but at the time I checked, it came back as a C rating. If reliable connectivity inside the hotel matters to you, it might be worth checking this in advance for peace of mind.

So being right by the station doesn't necessarily mean the signal is perfect. Then again, maybe it's kind of nice—soaking in the hot spring without having to worry about notifications.
Wrapping Up
To sum it all up, Onyado Nono Beppu struck me as a station-front hotel just a 1-minute walk from JR Beppu Station, complete with a natural hot spring bath overlooking Beppu Bay, seven types of private baths, and free services like late-night noodles—a place that seems plenty enjoyable even without a car.
Between the local breakfast menu and the well-rounded room options, this feels like an easy candidate to consider as a base for a trip centered around train travel. If connectivity is a concern, it might be worth checking the official Rakuten Mobile tool as well, just for peace of mind.
