I Looked Into Nanso Shiroyama Onsen Satomi no Yu
2026-09-29

As part of my ongoing 'hokance' (hotel + vacance) detour series, I've been steadily checking out day-trip hot springs on top of camping. I've honestly lost track of how many places I've covered by now.
This time I looked into Nanso Shiroyama Onsen Satomi no Yu in Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture. I always had the image that the Boso area was inconvenient without a car, but when I found out this facility can apparently be reached by train and bus too, I got curious and started digging in.
It's a day-trip hot spring proud of its high-concentration carbonated spring bath and stone spa, and as someone without a driver's license, I was happy to find there's a route by bus plus walking from Tateyama Station.
The official Rakuten Mobile tool gave a C rating for signal strength here, so that might be something to keep in mind.
I've summarized the details below.
What Kind of Place Is Satomi no Yu?
Nanso Shiroyama Onsen Satomi no Yu is apparently a day-trip hot spring facility located in Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture. It's open from 10:00 to 23:00 (last entry 22:30) and operates year-round without closing days, and it seems the private baths can be used until 21:00.
The bathing fee is apparently 1,500 yen for adults and 600 yen for children on weekdays, and 1,700 yen for adults and 600 yen for children on weekends and holidays (children being defined as ages 4 through elementary school). During the summer season (July 18 to August 31), a special-day rate applies and the night discount isn't available, so if you're planning a summer visit, it might be worth checking ahead of time. The fee also seems to include rental of in-facility loungewear, towels, bath towels, shampoo, and body soap, which gives the impression you could drop by empty-handed.
From what I could see on the official website, there was no mention of advance reservations for day-trip bathing itself, so it seems to be a walk-in, same-day reception style.

Being able to go empty-handed, plus being open year-round, feels like a great combination for someone like me who likes to go on a spontaneous hotel getaway on a whim.
Carbonated Spring Bath and Stone Spa: Checking the Facilities That Interest an Indoor Type Like Me
The indoor bath apparently comes with a high-concentration carbonated spring bath, a jet bath, and a sauna, which seems well-suited for anyone who wants to warm up thoroughly. The outdoor bath is a garden-style bath, designed so you can soak while feeling the outside air.
- Private baths: Available until 21:00. The official website doesn't clearly state the fee or reservation method, so it seems safest to check directly with the facility for details
- Stone spa: Introduced as one of the facility's key features, and apparently various relaxation menu options are available as well
- Restaurant SATOMI: Apparently serves local Boso fish dishes, Japanese soba, Korean food, and more, and is open from 11:00 to 14:30 and 17:00 to 21:00 on weekdays, and 11:00 to 21:00 on weekends and holidays
As for the water quality, I did come across some information mentioning a sodium chloride spring, but I couldn't find a direct statement of this in the body text of the official website page I checked this time, so I'll leave this as reference information only.
Access That's Also Convenient for Train and Bus Users
By car, it's apparently about 20 minutes from the Tomiura Interchange on the Futtsu-Tateyama Road via the Tateyama Bypass, and there's free parking for around 200 cars, so it seems like a scale that shouldn't cause much trouble for anyone driving there.
For someone like me who has a license but doesn't actually drive, what matters more is the train and bus route. From Tateyama Station on the JR Uchibo Line, it's apparently about 6 minutes by taxi, or you can take a Tateyama Nitto Bus bound for Awa-Shirahama, get off at the Aoyagi bus stop, and walk about 5 minutes from there. The official website also had timetable links for the highway bus Nanohana-go, but I wasn't able to confirm the specific stop to get off at or the walking time for that route this time. For those coming by ferry, a route using the Tokyo Bay Ferry via JR Hamakanaya Station also seems to be listed.
Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions
When I checked using the official 'My Area Connectivity Simulation' tool for this facility's location (Tateyama City), the overall rating came out as a 'C'.
Since the result was a C rating, it seems reassuring to check the connectivity situation in the Tateyama area ahead of time. If you're planning to stream videos or do online work, checking the official Rakuten Mobile tool in advance might make it easier to plan things out.

Hearing 'C rating' gives me a little chill, but since I'm not looking at my phone while soaking in a hot spring anyway, I personally don't think it's something to worry about too much.
Wrapping Up
To sum it up again, Nanso Shiroyama Onsen Satomi no Yu left me with the impression of being a day-trip hot spring where you can enjoy a high-concentration carbonated spring bath and stone spa, and which can also be reached by train and bus. Given that it's in Tateyama, most visitors will probably come by car, but for someone like me who has a license but isn't confident driving, having a bus-plus-walking route available feels like a real plus from a research standpoint. Since the Rakuten Mobile signal came out as a C rating, it seems like a good idea to plan ahead while also checking connectivity in advance. If you're curious, go ahead and check it with the official Rakuten Mobile tool.
