I Looked Into Hotel Sakura Ureshino

On this blog, I've mainly been looking into accommodations and campsites that seem reachable without a car, but this time I decided to turn my attention to a hot spring inn in the Kyushu area.

What got me interested was seeing a description that said you could take in a panoramic view of the townscape from an observation bath. As someone who's more of an indoor type, I was drawn to the idea of enjoying the scenery without having to go outside, so I decided to look into Hotel Sakura Ureshino, located in Ureshino City, Saga Prefecture.

The Short Version

The biggest highlight of this inn seems to be the observation bath on the 10th floor, the highest in the area, where you can look out over the Ureshino townscape.
As for Rakuten Mobile signal conditions, when I checked with the official tool, it showed a maintenance notice, so I wasn't able to get a result.

I've summarized the details below.

What Kind of Place Is Hotel Sakura Ureshino?

Apparently it's a hotel located in the center of the hot spring town in Ureshino City, Saga Prefecture, with 55 rooms in total and capacity for 350 guests. It's about a 13-minute ride by JR Kyushu Bus from Ureshino Onsen Station on the Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen, and it seems to be located near the Ureshino Onsen Bus Center, so it looks like a location that someone like me, who doesn't drive, could reach by public transportation.

As for room rates, the official site apparently shows "weekdays from 16,500 yen (with two meals included)", but it seems the detailed plan information needs to be checked on an external booking site. When actually making a reservation, it looks like a good idea to check the details in advance.

  • Booking method: apparently accepted by phone or via web booking (through an external reservation system)
  • Rough rate guide: listed as weekdays from 16,500 yen (with two meals included). Apparently the final amount needs to be confirmed at the time of booking
  • Check-in/check-out times: I couldn't find these clearly stated on the official site, so I wasn't able to confirm this either

The way the rate details are left up to the booking site kind of shows an honest approach, I guess, but it made me think it's better to check things carefully with my own eyes at the time of booking.

Checking Out the Observation Bath and Room Variations

The hot spring facilities consist of a large communal bath, an open-air bath, and a pot-style bath, and among these, the observation bath on the 10th floor seems to be the biggest highlight. Since it's the highest point in the area, it's apparently designed so you can leisurely take in the view of the Ureshino townscape.

There seem to be six types of rooms available, ranging from 9th-floor Japanese-Western style suites and junior suites with an in-room hot spring bath (120 sqm), to 7th-8th floor Japanese-Western two-room styles (54 sqm), 4th-6th floor Japanese-Western style rooms (36 sqm), 3rd-floor Japanese-style rooms (39 sqm), and 5th-6th/8th-9th floor Western-style twin rooms (31 sqm). It gave me the impression that the lineup is easy to choose from depending on purpose and number of guests.

Dining is apparently a buffet style centered on Japanese food, with grilled fish said to be a specialty in the morning and sashimi in the evening. There's also an in-house gallery for Hizen Yoshida ware pottery, whose name translates roughly to something like "the family room," and it seems to be a space where you can enjoy Ureshino tea while also experiencing the local pottery culture. As an indoor type, I appreciated that there's a way to spend time that's largely self-contained within the building.

Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions

When I checked this facility's location using the official "My Area Connectivity Simulation" tool, no result was displayed, and instead it showed a fallback message saying it was "currently undergoing temporary maintenance." It seems this kind of message can appear when address data for the location hasn't been prepared yet.

Because of this, I'm not able to give a rating like "good" or "somewhat weak" for the signal conditions this time, so overall I'll have to leave it as unknown. I'm sharing this as-is, as the result I was actually able to confirm.

As a Rakuten Mobile user myself, this was a bit of a letdown, but I can't force a good result out of nothing, so I decided to just report it honestly as-is. If you're concerned about it, I'd recommend checking for yourself.

Wrapping Up

To sum things up again, my impression of Hotel Sakura Ureshino is that its biggest appeal is being able to take in a panoramic view of the Ureshino townscape from the 10th-floor observation bath, the highest point in the area. With 55 rooms in total and six room types, plus facilities like a Japanese buffet and a Hizen Yoshida ware gallery, it seems to have plenty to keep you entertained while staying inside the building. Being within range of the Ureshino Onsen Bus Center also looked reassuring to me, since I don't drive.

On the other hand, regarding Rakuten Mobile signal conditions, checking with the official tool only returned a maintenance notice, so I wasn't able to get a result. If this is something you're concerned about, it's probably a good idea to check for yourself using the official tool when considering a stay.
