I Looked Into Hotel Green Plaza Kamogawa
2026-09-29

On this blog, I'm putting together a series looking into inns and day-trip hot springs that even I, without a car, might be able to visit.
This time, I looked into Hotel Green Plaza Kamogawa, located in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture. I was drawn in by the phrase "ocean views from every room," and it seemed like I could get there from Tokyo by train plus a shuttle bus, so it felt like a place even I, as someone with a driver's license I never use, could add to my list.
My impression was that this is the kind of inn that sells itself on ocean views from every room and a natural hot spring, ideal for relaxing while gazing out at the sea.
As for Rakuten Mobile signal, my check came back with a "C" rating, so it's probably worth keeping that in mind ahead of time.
I've put together the details below.
What Kind of Place Is Hotel Green Plaza Kamogawa
This inn is located along the coast in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture, and according to the official website, every room offers an ocean view overlooking the Pacific. Room types appear to be quite varied, including Japanese-style rooms, Japanese-Western style rooms, kids' rooms, Japanese-modern rooms, and large rooms with terraces. Apparently, the third floor was renovated in December 2023, adding new Japanese-Western style rooms.
The bath is a natural hot spring called Kominato Minori Onsen, which is said to have skin-beautifying effects. In summer, apparently a pool exclusively for guests is also open, so it seems like the way you can enjoy this inn changes with the season.
- Day-trip hot spring hours: 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM (last entry 8:00 PM), 1,100 yen for adults and 500 yen for children (including tax and bathing tax, towel rental included)
- Apparently day-trip use is suspended during the summer season (July 17 to August 31), so if you're thinking of stopping by during that period, it's probably worth confirming in advance
- Check-in for overnight stays is 3:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM (subject to change depending on the plan)
- Reservations can apparently be made either through the official website's booking system or by phone
As for accommodation rates, the official website doesn't list specific prices, and it seems like you need to check individually through the booking system. If you're curious, it's probably best to check directly on the official website.

Hearing "ocean views from every room" makes it sound like you could just stay in your room and look at the sea the whole time — as an indoor type, that really appealed to me.
Checking Out the Seafood Dinner and Kid-Friendly Facilities
Apparently meals include a seafood dinner buffet, with a lineup that makes the most of Kamogawa's local character. I couldn't find the exact number of dishes from the official website, but it seems like the kind of spread that really captures the feel of an inn near the sea.
There's also apparently a kids' room called the "Waku Waku! Kids Room" (roughly, "Exciting Kids Room"), so it seems like this inn is designed with families traveling with small children in mind.
Checking Whether You Can Get There Without a Car
By train, it's apparently about 95 minutes from Tokyo to JR Awa-Kominato Station via the Wakashio limited express on the Sotobo Line. The hotel is about a 3-minute drive from the station, and there's a free shuttle bus available with advance reservation. The shuttle requires booking by 8:00 PM the day before, and there appear to be several set departure times from the hotel, so it seems fairly manageable even if you're mainly getting around by train.
There also appear to be highway buses running from Katsuura, Tokyo, and Chiba, so having multiple options felt like a real plus for someone without a car. Nearby there's also apparently Kamogawa Sea World and Tanjo-ji Temple, so it seems like an area that's easy to combine with sightseeing.
Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions
When I checked this facility's location using the official "My Area Coverage Simulation" tool, the overall rating came back as "C." If you'd like to check the connectivity situation before your stay, it might help to look this up too when planning.
If you need to stay in touch for work during your stay, or if you use a lot of data for things like streaming video, it might give you peace of mind to factor this rating into your plans in advance. I couldn't find a clear statement on the official website about whether in-house Wi-Fi is available, so if that's a concern, it's probably best to ask when making your reservation.

Honestly, that "C" rating is a bit of a concern. If your purpose is just to zone out while looking at the sea, maybe it doesn't matter much, but I think I'll mentally prepare myself for it just in case.
Wrapping Up
Putting it all together again, my impression is that Hotel Green Plaza Kamogawa is the kind of inn centered around ocean views from every room and the natural Kominato Minori hot spring, meant for relaxing by the sea. The fact that it seems reachable by a combination of train and shuttle bus was also reassuring for me, since I don't drive.
The Rakuten Mobile signal rating came out as "C," so if you'd like to factor in connectivity too, it's probably a good idea to check for yourself before heading out. If you're curious, you can check using Rakuten Mobile's official tool, so it might be worth looking into that as well.
