I Looked Into Boso Kamogawa Onsen Zeku
2026-08-26

On this blog, alongside campsites, I've also been gradually covering, almost like a series, those "let's skip camping and go do a hokans (hotel + vacance) instead" detours. Since I don't drive, the more a place makes me wonder about shuttle service or access from the station, the more I want to check the details in advance.
This time I looked into Boso Kamogawa Onsen Zeku, located in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture. I came across information saying that every single room comes with its own semi-open-air hot spring bath, and that immediately caught my attention, even as someone who's more of an indoor type.
What stood out to me the most was the design where all 18 rooms come with their own semi-open-air hot spring bath, essentially turning your entire room stay into hot spring time.
As for Rakuten Mobile signal, when I checked using the official tool, the result came back as a C rating.
I've summarized the details below.
Looking Into What Kind of Inn Zeku Is
Boso Kamogawa Onsen Zeku is apparently a hot spring inn located in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture. It was reportedly just renovated in March 2023, so the facilities around the guest rooms give a relatively fresh impression.
Check-in is at 15:00 (last check-in 18:00), and check-out is at 10:00, it seems. Reservations can apparently be made through the official website or by phone. I couldn't find a pricing list page on the official website, so it looks like you'd need to check external booking systems or various OTA listings instead. As a rough guide, a room for two seemed to range from roughly the high 20,000-yen range up to the mid 50,000-yen range, varying by plan and season, though I couldn't confirm the most current, exact pricing through this research. It might be worth checking the official website or booking sites for the latest information before making a reservation.
There are apparently 18 parking spaces available, free of charge. It seems there's also EV charging equipment, but apparently it can't be used from April through early October, so if you're planning to drive an electric vehicle there, it might be worth confirming in advance. Since I don't drive myself, I've become something of a specialist in just researching this stuff, but it's probably a point worth knowing for anyone driving there.

Just knowing it was renovated in 2023 gives me the impression that the interior is probably pretty well put together. I can't give the exact street address here, but it seems to be located in a coastal area of Kamogawa City.
A Luxurious Setup with Semi-Open-Air Hot Spring Baths in Every Room
The biggest feature of this facility seems to be that every room in both the main building and the annex comes with its own semi-open-air hot spring bath. The main building, called the Zeku wing, apparently has room types A through E, while the annex is divided into Regular, Luxury, and Premium types. Being able to soak in a hot spring without even leaving your room is a design that really appeals to me as an indoor type.
There also seem to be two types of large communal baths, alternated between men and women. One, called "Namioto no Yu," apparently has a wide ceramic tub, while the other, "Iwaoto no Yu," is made of stone and is lit up at night. Hours of use appear to run from 15:00 to 24:00, and again from 6:00 to 9:30 the next morning. On top of that, there seem to be two private baths available for reservation as well: one called "Suiten no Yu" (with sauna and cold plunge, 2,500 yen for 50 minutes) and another called "Ippeki no Yu" (with a two-tiered tub that also allows for reclined soaking, 2,000 yen for 50 minutes), so there also appears to be an option for families or couples to enjoy a more leisurely soak together. The water quality is apparently sulfur-sodium-chloride/bicarbonate cold mineral spring, with the source reportedly named "Nagisa no Yu."
That said, I also came across information suggesting that as of January 2026, the sauna in the large communal bath was out of service for a period due to a malfunction. I didn't see any mention of this on the official website's hot spring page, so it might be worth confirming the current operating status before your stay.
Private-Room Dining Featuring Spiny Lobster and Abalone, Plus Room Amenities
For meals, there's apparently a dining venue called Gatten, where every seat is either semi-private or fully private. It seems to specialize in dishes using spiny lobster, abalone, and local fish, which gives off a vibe where you could probably enjoy a relaxed meal without worrying about people around you. Breakfast is apparently offered in two time slots, starting at 8:00 or 8:30.
Looking at the room amenities, the main building rooms apparently come equipped with a refrigerator, TV, electric kettle, air conditioning, loungewear, Simmons-brand beds, an air purifier with humidifier function, and a semi-open-air bath. The annex rooms apparently include all of that plus a room theater, a water server, and even a ReFa hair dryer and curling iron, which as an indoor type makes me feel like you could build your whole stay around just relaxing in the room and still have plenty to enjoy.
- Items available for loan: portable DVD player, wheelchair, bottle warmer, bed guard (limited quantities)
- Large communal bath hours: 15:00-24:00, and 6:00-9:30 the next morning
- Private bath hours: 16:00-22:00 (last start time), and 6:00-7:00 the next morning (last start time)

Just researching the combination of spiny lobster and abalone in a private dining room already feels pretty satisfying. Having loungewear provided also seems to fit well with the idea of spending the whole stay in comfortable clothes.
Rakuten Mobile Signal Conditions
As a Rakuten Mobile user, the thing I always want to check whenever I research a place like this is the signal condition. When I checked this facility's location using the official My Area Connectivity Simulation tool, the overall rating came back as "C."
Given that C rating, it's probably a good idea to keep expectations modest when it comes to connectivity. Reception might vary depending on where your room is located and how the building is constructed, but overall it seems wiser not to count too heavily on being able to connect from inside the inn. If you're expecting to wait on work messages during your stay, or planning on heavy data use like streaming video, it might be worth preparing ahead of time with this result in mind.

Just knowing about that C rating ahead of time is already a help. If you plan around the hot springs and meals being the main focus, there probably won't be much of a gap once you're actually there.
Wrapping Up
Pulling it all together, Boso Kamogawa Onsen Zeku left me with the impression of being an inn well worth considering for a hokans trip, with every room featuring its own semi-open-air hot spring bath and the chance to enjoy spiny lobster and abalone in a private dining room. Combined with the freshness of its 2023 renovation, it seems to have all the amenities you'd need to comfortably spend most of your time without ever really leaving the room.
On the other hand, since checking with the official tool showed a C rating for Rakuten Mobile signal, it might be worth planning ahead if a reliable connection matters to you. If that's a concern, you can check for yourself using the official Rakuten Mobile tool, so it's probably worth taking a look before booking your stay.
